Radiohead: The King of Limbs (my review, warned)
with Radiohead Faith No More and Nine Inch Nails
constitute what would be my holy trinity of rock bands . I spent many pleasant moments (and not so pleasant as well) with Radiohead as soundtracks and I have a lot material (Official, unofficial, pirate, original, covers, etc.) Of the band. I say all this because I want to make clear my fanaticism for the band before going to summarize his last work: The King of Limbs
.
King ... is an album that has been preceded by great expectations, as any work of Radiohead at this time it is, and partly that it has harmed, filling it with positive reviews everywhere when people still did not quite hear.
today was the official launch (and pirate) disc, but unlike the In Rainbows
I could not watch for a download, and being in the office could not stop reading reviews of the disc is inserted as a wonder, a classic. curiosity I was eating.
to give me an appetizer, enjoy the solitude of the office at noon to see the promotional video
"Lotus Flower" is rare (now) to remove a promotional video for Radiohead so the only chance to see something show up. false. video (again, the video, not the song) is a sign in my opinion, what is happening with the band: Tom Yorke
a clowning for the camera, trying in vain to look funny while dancing in a superbly lit and photographed. not leave the band, there is no history, only Tom Yorke representing his role as God-like characters such as Tim Burton
do.
and providing a black future, Yorke auditioned for the competition to make Delfin
Endless
total or try to stop him too the video, the end of the music was what mattered and
"Lotus Flower" sounded well. I get home, download the album and finally I could get a sense that this was all about. The King of Limbs
starts as if from the Kid A
had not been other records,
"Bloom" is a wall loops and sequences at least call attention, with Tom Yorke coming at an unexpected time with a voice a little lower than usual.
"Morning Mr Magpie" is faster but still boring, with little or no new to offer (except riffcito guitar that looks like bachata).
"Little by Little" has the intention to return a little Radiohead of old, but the meanness of following a wave that is not fast or slow makes the subject fall into a slump from which it never leaves. I'm sure with
"Feral" Radiohead lost a few fans, because not only it does not look like anything they've done, but are so crazy pitch made no where grab, more like an experiment a song itself.
from here greatly improves disk, starting and
named "Lotus Flower" , which although has a lot of electronic elements like so much to criticize those who say that the band was burned, uses in his favor, Genrad with Yorke's voice a very good song.
"Codex" Radiohead us back much of the epic we all know, although the lyrics seem to go to boot is a great ballad that makes us forget the first 4 songs, very ambient, very atmospheric.
"Give Up The Ghost" reminded me a lot to the Fleet Foxes
, perhaps in the treatment of voices, and is a bit retro wave
"Little by Little" wanted to accomplish and failed.
"Separator" could well be on "The Bends" and had not been out of place, a song very faithful to the style of the band, which may amalgam almost all stages of the band and that closes the album in a somewhat dignified but without much impact.
like me? honestly not a disk bring an occasional song that does not suit you is one thing, but half of the album you look bad and the other half is good but not much talk of launching rockets can reach as a band to like or how can disappoint. People will still probably be to put this classic album, but what was to me, is just another decent album in the career of a band that seems to have lost its way, like a dog chasing its tail.
